Obama Exemplifies Dhimmitude (Submission) During G20 World Tour

During Obama’s G20 World Tour (did you buy the t-shirt?) this week, we were witness to several disturbing actions and statements on the part of the President. Two that come to mind are his bowing lowly before the King of Saudi Arabia (see the photo - ever see a US President do that?), and his speech before the Turkish parliament on Islam and United States. Both are examples of dhimmitude.

What’s that, you ask? Basically, it is a form of submission. The word “dhimmitude” comes from “dhimmi”, an Arabic word meaning “protected”. Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination. It is the status that Islamic law, the Sharia, mandates for non-Muslims, primarily Jews and Christians. Populations under conquering Islamic rule were basically given three choices: submit to Islam, die, or becoming a Dhimmi. To be a Dhimmi, one was [...]

Obama’s Optical problems

On the morning of February 17th,I was standing in line getting coffee at the little cafeteria at my day gig. Behind me were two guys that had obviously been in heated discussion for some time. I don’t know either of them. I can’t vouch for the conversation being word for word, but here it is from my memory:

So, let me understand this. Obama’s going to Denver, today… several days after the bill he was so much in a hurry to sign that none of Congress could actually take the time to read it, was placed on his desk. Why did he wait all that time after the vote? So he could vacation?

Well, no, so he could fly out to Denver, I guess.

Why Denver?

So that he could sign it in a plant that makes Solar panels. He wants to be seen as a ‘green’ president.

But what does it take to make this happen? How’s he getting there?

Well, he’s got to fly Air Force One out to Denver.

Doesn’t that mean he’s flying at least four planes? Air Force One, plus the military escort, PLUS a second plane for a decoy, and likely more escorts for the decoy?

I guess so, why?

How much fuel does that take?

Oh, I heard [...]

Two Historic Days

Today we celebrate the birth of one of the icons of our nation: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I shared some thoughts last year, which remain as they are, but I never imagined at that time the course that history would take between these two celebrations of his birth.

There are days that I still find myself seeing even more deeply just how depraved we have been as a nation. I’ve been studying our history this past year, and find that in the midst of a hundred other events in the course of time we have been surrounded by our constant failure to give all people the respect and opportunity they deserve. Although I would contend that we have done what should be done by government to bring dignity and equality to the masses, I know that many would be quick to disagree. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of those like Condoleezza Rice, Barack Obama, Clarence Thomas, all of whom have lived through the years of dramatic change in out society and have been in roles where they can see many of the aspects of the society’s changes in judicial, legislative and education worlds.

I consider myself, as well as the whole nation, indebted to Dr. King for his sacrifice in carrying the message of our social failure and need for transformation to the leaders and people of our country. It still makes me sad to think he died so young (he was only 39), but he had already successfully lit the fire of reform in the hearts of many people, both black and white.

It surprises me that racism is still such an unfettered evil in our society. It pains me to think that people can still look down on others for any reason. But we have frail feelings, frail hearts, frail souls… we are difficult to mend.

Tomorrow the 44th President of the United States will be inaugurated. The first African-American to be President.

I don’t agree with Mr. Obama on some key policy areas, and that is not likely to change. But I do hope that he is successful in his role as President. For the [...]

60-Minutes Sets A Record…

… for the most boring interview in history. Last night felt more like 3600 seconds. For those of you that missed it (lucky you), it was the big “first interview of the 44th President Elect of the United Stated”. Steve Kroft, one-on-one with Obama for half the show, Michelle included in the second half (with a little time for Rooney).

Softball questions by Kroft… oh, wait a minute, he did press Obama mightily to reveal yet unannounced cabinet position appointments. Darn, Barack refused to slip up on that!

Why oh why do we care about Obama’s position on college football playoffs?

Very little of what was discussed from a policy standpoint was any different than what we’ve heard on the campaign OR Obama just didn’t provide a real answer. Auto industry? Let’s see what happens. Gitmo? Shut it down… and as a commenter at James Hibberd’s The Live Feed said, no follow-up from Kroft on an obvious question: what to do with the prisoners?

Economy: do [...]

Which Way Should Conservatism Go? Well, How About We Try ‘toward Conservatism’?

You’re going to hear quite a bit from the left over ‘the death of conservatism’ over the next few weeks. But they’ve got it wrong. I say, what we’ve got is the death of compromised conservatism as espoused by George W Bush, his father, GHW Bush, and by more recently, John McCain.

This morning, we see a post from Helen Valois at Renew America, who calls this ‘conservative conservatism’. I can quibble with the name she chooses, but not her meaning…

What is conservative conservatism? It is a commitment to playing a good defense (or rather — except for the one, brief, shining moment of Governor Palin’s acceptance speech — a pretty flawed defense) when your opponents have gone decisively on the offensive. It is that which John McCain quintessentially represents — the recalcitrant[...]

More of Obama’s “Silence the Opposition” Tactics

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain — the Washington Times, the New York Post and the Dallas Morning News — have been booted from Barack Obama’s campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race.

The Washington Times reported Friday that it was notified of the Obama campaign’s decision Thursday evening — even though the paper has covered Obama from the start.

That from Fox, today. However you look at this, and the WFTV and KYW incidents and a half dozen others we’ve mentioned on BitsBlog, it’s clear Obama cannot deal with any opposition.

It’s as the executive editor of[...]

Barack Obama and Morality

I’ve spent the last week–this one leading up to the election next week–thinking about what it is about Barack Obama that really bothers me. I mean, he seems a likeable-enough guy, good-looking, even-tempered, well-spoken. I’ve read Charles Krauthammer’s endorsement of John McCain, and of course, the editorials of my favorite conservatives at the Wall Street Journal, namely Daniel Henninger and Kimberly Strassel. But it was while watching the Dennis Miller piece on The O’Reilly Factor Wednesday night that clarified what it is about Obama that terrifies me. Barack Obama clearly doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong, and his entire life story illustrates it.

Barry’s mother was from Kansas, and in his first campaign advertisements, he talked about how she gave him her “Midwestern values”. Really? How do those values compare to two other notable Kansan’s–Bob Dole and Dwight Eisenhower? When was the last time[...]

That Nagging Question is Still Out There.

WorldNet Daily:

The Pennsylvania Democrat who has sued Sen. Barack Obama

demanding he prove his American citizenship – and therefore qualification to run for president – has confirmed he has a recording of a telephone call from the senator’s paternal grandmother confirming his birth in Kenya.

The issue of Obama’s birthplace, which he states is Honolulu in 1961, has been raised enough times that his campaign website has posted an image purporting to be of his “Certification of Live Birth” from Hawaii.

But Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania, told the Michael Savage talk radio program tonight that[...]

Obama vs McCain

These are interesting times.  I can’t believe America is considering the following resume to be leader of the free world.
National experience:  143 days
Executive experience:  none
Administrative experience:  none
Foreign Policy experience:  none
Economic experience:  none
Our country is so adrift, so desperate for ideas that we will actually consider a neophyte for President!  He prances around on stage, derides [...]

So What is the Relationship of Obama And the Kenyan Thug, Odinga?

Sen. Barack Obama designated a personal aide as his direct contact for the 2007 Kenyan presidential campaign of Raila Odinga, who later was appointed prime minister after his election loss was followed by widespread, deadly violence that destroyed or damaged 800 Christian churches, according to e-mails obtained by WND senior staff writer Jerry Corsi during a trip to Kenya.

That’s only the beginning of a startling report from World Net Daily, and it’s the very beginning of the tale of why Jerome Corsi was arrested and deported by Kenyan officials. It amounts to the idea that Corsi was uncovering rather a lot of facts that will expose[...]
