Art: Welcome to our Live Blog. We will be watching the entire debate, which we hope you will be doing as well. There will be periodic polls, and opportunities for your comments. Feel free to send a message to us if you have questions!

Art: It will be interesting to see if we again dig into questions about the Economy and the $700 Billion bailout. I heard Sarah on Sean Hannity’s radio show today, and both of them were pushing the “Congress must do something!” line.
    9:06
Art: First question is the bailout.
    9:07
Art: Biden says they will bring change.

    9:08
Art: Palin responds with everything we’ve already heard. Stump speech on McCain suspending the campaign and putting country first.

Here’s one thing I like about Palin…She is deferential to McCain and references him as President.

How does de-regulation have anything to do with the price of gasoline?

    9:14 [DJ] – I’m curious…Who’s wearing more make-up? Biden or Palin. I think Biden…
9:17 [DJ] – Under McCain’s tax proposals, no one gets a tax increase, neither the middle, the “upper” or the low-income families.
9:18 [DJ] – Here’s what is really starting to get to me…Biden isn’t even real about taxes or regulation. Do he not get it?

Environment…The cause is man-made? I didn’t realize that. I thought it was due to bovine flatulance!

Who cares what the cause is? Should we be spending billions to be good stewards of our world?

  6. Art Smith | Oct 2, 2008 at 8:35 pm | Reply

Okay, sorry for the delay folks. I’m catching up with the current discussion of the environment. Biden is clearly convinced that global warming is man made. I’m not convinced. Biden supports drilling. (He said “Drill, drill, drill”!). But continues to complain about the 10 years thing. I hate the fact that he and the rest of the liberals won’t admit that moving in that direction still drives the oil prices down.

  7. Art Smith | Oct 2, 2008 at 8:36 pm | Reply

The fact is we need a conservative policy for caring for the planet. But it is key to understand whether it’s we’re experiencing a problem with carbon emissions or a problem with sun storms.

Obama/Biden will grant same-sex couples all of the same rights as those weird opposite sex marriages.

  9. DJ Durant | Oct 2, 2008 at 8:37 pm | Reply

Same sex benefits…How can you be a Catholic in good standing and still support same sex anything? The Constitution is silent on same sex because the Founding Fathers could not conceive of same sex.

Where’s the proof on McCain cutting funding for the troops?

  17. Art Smith | Oct 2, 2008 at 8:45 pm | Reply

It’s the same line from last Friday’s debate: he voted against the timeline, which included funding, so therefore he voted against funding.

  61. Art Smith | Oct 2, 2008 at 9:18 pm | Reply

Where is Biden getting this about the Senate? The VP is the President of the Senate. It’s not a “run over and break a tie”, it’s a real role.

  63. Art Smith | Oct 2, 2008 at 9:20 pm | Reply

I’m liking how the debate is going in general. There is no interrupting and not as much of the on and on and on that we had with Lehrer. I think both VP candidates are probably on a short leash, which probably helps keep things even and keeps them from going off where they haven’t been prepped.
