It Made Me Want To Be Expelled

The wife and I finally got time to see Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.

We were aghast.

Dr. Bob Stouffer did a great job reflecting on this movie [1].   But it still did not prepare me for what I witnessed.

It was haunting.

There were three things that impressed themselves upon me.

First, that in the world of Academia the idea of an open exchange of ideas would be so profoundly suppressed without any guilt, without any hesitation, either because of the agenda of a mind washed majority or because of the power of those who have significant financial resources.  Higher Education has always been held up as the great open learning environment because ideas and paths of research were not shackled.  I’ve lost that dream now, at least on the larger scale.  I hope to soon see a list of schools willing to open themselves up to ideas that challenge the status quo.  I’m confident that Grove City College in Pennsylvania is one that would be on that list.  And I hope that The Conservative Reader provides a similar, albeit less prominent forum.

Second, that people, such as those that are fully convinced that there is no God and no plan for humankind (and therefore, no hope either), can so blithely look down on the faith and lives of those that put their hope in God as if they were in deviant, distracted, detached and unproductive state of existence.  Those that put their entire universe-view in Darwin or something akin to Darwin seem to have a hope that the Churches will eventually be treated as nothing more than social clubs (a situation that all too often already happens) and eventually die off.  They may not know it, but they hope in chaos, anarchy, and social devastation.  I’m sure they pity me, but I also pity them.  They have a life with no purpose than to act on behalf of one they do not believe in (not God, but the Enemy of God) who seeks to destroy men… and is succeeding with such as these.  And they believe they stand in the superior position.

Thirdly, that in their quest to deny the existence of God, some would oppose the idea of Intelligent Design (by reading it as “Yahweh Design”) and yet when challenged on the topic of “how” are dimwitted (sorry, I can’t think of any other way to say it) enough to suggest that space aliens may have provided a designed seeding of Earth, and yes, go so far as to say that the signature of such an alien designer can be clearly seen … really.  Clearly not stating that man came about by accident, but by the design of an intelligent space alien, but not Intelligent Design.  On camera, completely demonstrating the true mission of Darwinists… to formulate an explanation that can adequately deny the existence of God.

And pursue a mission of manipulating our society, generation by generation, until all signs of belief in a creating God are evolved out (that’s social engineering).

Ben Stein put together a marvelous movie.  If you still have a chance to see it, please go out now and see it before it leaves the theaters.

Keep an eye out here in a few months… once this movie is on DVD, we will let you know and perhaps have a few to give away.

And, if you disagree with anything I’ve said, you are welcome to share your thoughts here without reprisal or attacks of any kind.

I agree with you about Dawkin’s strange comments about the alien origins of life on earth. Sometimes I think he gets caught up in his own hyperbole but there is a part of the Expelled and ID argument that is somewhat disingenuous. Here’s a couple of quotes:

“It’s also true that the theory (evolution) lends itself to justify atheism, abortion, euthanasia, and eugenics” –as Stein points out.

Here is another quote from Mr. Stein, “Love of God and compassion and empathy leads you to a very glorious place, and science leads you to killing people.

Basically, Expelled tarnishes all Darwinist and evolutionists as maniacal murderers responsible for the worst atrocities of man. Linking Hitler and Darwinism is basically a specious argument, after all how many Christian Germans prayed to God that Hitler would triumph? Should we equate Christianity with the Nazis too? That’s stupid and simplistic, right? Or do we just ignore the previous two thousand years of anti-Semitism in Europe and assume it had it had no impact on the holocaust or do we blame all Christians for the camps? Again, that’s a simplistic answer.

To quote the Anti-Defamation League: “The film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed misappropriates the Holocaust and its imagery as a part of its political effort to discredit the scientific community which rejects so-called intelligent design theory. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people and Darwin and evolutionary theory cannot explain Hitler’s genocidal madness. Using the Holocaust in order to tarnish those who promote the theory of evolution is outrageous and trivializes the complex factors that led to the mass extermination of European Jewry.”

Here is another point of disagreement with you, I believe that you can be a Christian and a Darwinist, too. In fact, I am both. To me, one is science and the other is faith and they each have their place in life, one in a class room, the other in a church. If ID is truly a valid scientific theory then win the debate within the scientific journals through peer review not in the court of public opinion (and please don’t give me that nonsense that the ID proponents lost their jobs, that was basically a Michael Moore liberty if I ever saw one.) This is how science advances and why should the mechanism change just because proponents of ID have lost the debate years ago? This is not about free speech, this is about science. To date, the arguments of irreducible complexity are not enough to allow ID to stand as a valid scientific theory. And even if it was what can you do with it as theory? What predictive models will come from ID other than to ask us to marvel at god’s handiwork? That is why it’s not science and belongs in a church.

Here’s a quote from my [2] site that Jason provided from St. Augustine:

“For then, to defend their utterly foolish and obviously untrue statements, they will try to call upon Holy Scripture for proof and even recite from memory many passages which they think support their position, although they understand neither what they say nor the things about which they make assertion. [1 Timothy 1.7]“
