Veterans: Go Thank Them Now!

Thank goodness we have today, Veterans Day, to remind us of the sacrifice given by so many millions of men and women over the past 233 years (really more, when you think about it).  The day today is specifically designated for those that are living, but their sacrifice is no less than those who have died in action (factoid: November 11 was designated due it being the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice of World War I in 1918) .

Although it should not be constrained to this day, we all know someone, who has served our country as a member of the military.  Find as many of those people as possible and thank them.  You don’t have to overdo it… just a simple thank you …


Welcome to Memorial Day

Revolutionary_War_MilitiamenSince 1775, over a million men and women have given their lives in service to the United States of America, that we may be able to live in the freedom we enjoy today. War is an awful thing, but it has been absolutely necessary to secure our freedoms.

The leadership, cunning and inspiration of George Washington helped provide critical victories and maintain a semblance of order to the Continental Army through hard battles and a harsh weather through 1776.

Every Day Should Be Memorial Day

I’d like to encourage you to read Bithead’s Ramble last night regarding Memorial Day. We have a few different days each year, some more formal than others, where we can all stop and thank those that have served and today still serve us in the Armed Forces, along with the familes that have sacrificed so they might fight, and some who never see them again.

I missed mentioning Armed Forces Day last Sunday, we also have Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, Flag Day, the anniversaries of Pearl Harbor, Victory in Europe, Victory in the Pacific, and a few others.

Using these days as opportunities to recognize and thank our friends and family who serve is certainly helps act as a reminder of the greater good these …
